portrait Sketch summer 2007

a sketch loosely based on a Leonardo Da vinci drawing!! Im training my classical rembrant/Odd Nerdrum style of painting... I dont consider this painting to be more then a sketch even though its leaning towards the look of a "real" painting, this is because of its lack of intellectual content.
not that I painting needs that but this is just a simple painting of a Da Vinci drawing

Latley Ive been loosening up my brushwork it was abit stiff before and made some work dull..
Im NOT goin abstract or anything like that, my fav style is still the one of Ingres & raphael, but on looking at Raphaels paintings for real in Rome I saw his brushwork more clearly.
another thing that inspired me is Odd Nerdrums new book "themes" (worth every penny if you ask me) I allways thought most of his paintings where earth-coloured &dark but after seeing more of his work I understand that hes an exellent colourist... acctually Ive seen like 30 of Nerdrums paintings for real but at that show mostly the dark ones where on view
